Installation

Why are the screens are too large for my PC?

This problem can be caused by incorrect screen resolution (see below - "How do I change the screen resolution?") or by incorrect font settings i.e.: if you have "Large Fonts" selected (see below - "How do I change font size?")

The buttons on the main screen do not line up with the text. Why?

This problem can be caused by incorrect screen resolution (see below - "How do I change the screen resolution?") or by incorrect font settings i.e.: - if you have "Large Fonts" selected (see below - "How do I change font size?")

Text fields are shaded incorrectly. How can this be corrected?

This problem is caused by the Display Color Palette selection. To change the color palette setting, press "Start" on the task bar, then select "Settings", then "Control Panel" and then "Display". On the "Settings" tab, the "Color Palette" should be set to "High Color (16 bit)".

How do I change the screen resolution?

The SecureAssess® system requires a screen resolution of at least 800 by 600 pixels. To change the screen settings, press "Start" on the task bar, then select "Settings", then "Control Panel" and then "Display". On the "Settings" tab, the "Desktop Area" should be set to at least 800 by 600 pixels.

How do I change font size?

The SecureAssess® General Security Assessment system requires normal font size - i.e.: 96dpi or "Small Font". To change the screen settings, press "Start" on the task bar, then select "Settings", then "Control Panel" and then "Display". On the "Settings" tab select "Small Fonts" in the "Font Size" drop down list box. You will have to reboot your system after you change font settings.

An unexpected error has occurred. 5: Invalid procedure call or argument. Why?

This error will occur if an attempt is made to delete an Assessment Question without using the "Delete" command button. Refer to "Delete (Heading, Sub-Section, Question)" within the SecureAssess® application Help.

Assessment Design

Why do I get a message - "Audit Responses Exist - Audit Locked?"

Once you have entered responses to an assessment, you cannot go back and modify that assessment. The questions must remain the same. This is a security feature that "locks-down" the assessment. However, you can enter many (up to 365) separate and different versions of a single design assessment. If you want to modify the design audit, simply copy the assessment and give it a different name.

How do I set performance standards or benchmarks in my assessment?

Select any section heading and a Compliance % box pops-up. Enter your required section compliance here. This allows you to set your own standards in your assessment and is also used to graph performance against compliance requirements. Note - if you enter a Compliance % for a section, you must enter compliance for all sections. Sub-sections roll-up to Section totals (see reports above).

How do I use sub-sections?

If you want to use sub-sections in your assessment, take a little time to conceptualize it on paper before you design the assessment in SecureAssess®. SecureAssess® uses a 3 digit system (see the sample audit) to number questions that allows you the flexibility to use a sub-section level of design and reporting. 1-0-0 is a Section heading. 1-1-0 is a Sub-Section heading. 1-0-1 is a Section question. 1-1-1 is a Sub-Section question. You may combine Section questions and Sub-Section questions, but if you do, the audit sorts on the section items first.

Reports and Graphs

Can I export my reports?

Reports can be exported to various formats. Just select the envelope icon next to the print icon. If you use MS Word, you can export your assessment and follow up reports as MS Word documents.

Can I make up my own graphs?

You can export the graph reports and save them as Excel spreadsheets. Once in Excel format, you can use the Excel graph wizard to make your own graphs from the summary data. You can also combine data from different assessments to compare different assessments or show changes over time.

Why do I get zeros showing up on the graph reports under Compliance percentage and Compliance Points?

If you click on the Section Heading, you will notice a Compliance Score box becomes visible. This lets you define the required compliance for the Section. If you set a compliance percent per section, this percentage is used to show your baselines on the graph reports. For example, if your section totals 100 points and you set a compliance of 80%, then 80 points are required to meet your standard for compliance. If you do not use compliance in the assessment design, zeros will print on the graph reports.

Enter Assessment Responses

Why can I put values in actual score for some questions and not others?

You assign weights to each item in a response set. For example, a Yes/No set will typically have the Yes item weighted at 100% and No at 0% - all or nothing. When the Audit is being completed and the auditor selects a "Yes" answer, the Actual Score is calculated. It does this by multiplying the Possible score against the weight for a "Yes" answer (in this case 100%). This is done automatically. However, if you select a Response List item of zero for a question, this requires a narrative comment and a professional judgment response. You key the Actual Score. Note, you should not enter an Actual Score that is higher in value than the Possible Score as it may distort the final scoring on your reports.
